Nothing to Fear… Or Is There?
As Halloween comes to an end, a girl snuggles in bed, surrounded by a group of ghostly characters on their once-a-year outing.
On Halloween night, there’s nothing to fear,
Just laughter and lanterns and crisp autumn air.
The ghosts are just whispers, the witches just play,
The bats in the rafters will flutter away.

The skeletons dance, but only for fun,
Their rattling bones make mischief, then run.
The werewolves don’t bite, they’re howling in glee,
The black cats just purr—come, sit on my knee!
No reason to shiver, no need for a fright,
It’s only a story spun out of the night…

Yet—wait—did you hear that? A creak in the floor?
A shadow just moved by the old wooden door…
Oh, never mind! It’s nothing, I swear!
Nothing to fear…
...Or is there?
A River Feast with Mole and Ratty
In the beautiful English countryside, Ratty and Mole, enjoy a picnic of delicious cakes, muffins, and ripe berries. While Ratty indulges his love of photography and painting, Mole relaxes in front of the camera.
Mole and Ratty, off they go,
Drifting where the breezes blow,
Past the willows, soft and green,
Where the water hums serene.

On their boat, a feast is spread—
Sugar buns and jammy bread,
Chocolate drops and lemon pies,
Fizzing pop that tickles eyes!
Mole, with paws all sticky-sweet,
Nibbles on a berry treat.

"Hold it still!" says Ratty, bright,
"Let me catch you in the light!"
Click! The camera makes a snap,
Mole just smiles and tips his cap.
Drifting down the dreamy stream,
With cakes and laughs—a picnic dream!
The world of Shy Otis
Shy Otis is a small tiger—or a big cat—who lives in a treehouse on a remote island with his best friend, a blue-footed booby. He spends his days drawing and listening to old records, but their peace is disrupted by a fiery cheetah who bullies him.

I began developing his world before the pandemic, first as a picture book idea, then as a 50,000-word mid-grade fantasy novel. Echoing The Lord of the Flies and The Jungle Book, this story blends survival, group dynamics, and the imaginative scope of The Neverending Story into a distinctive mix of adventure and magical realism. I am currently seeking publication and look forward to sharing more soon.

The black-and-white illustrations above are for the novel, while the coloured ones below were created for the picture-book dummies.
Tiny Detective, Grand Adventure
Inspector Mole is putting the pieces together to catch a gang of dangerous robbers. His stature is small, and he navigates an office in which the furniture and various objects are oddly large. Moreover, the illustration's perspective is exaggerated to add playful tension.
Oscar's Rainy Day Treasures
On a rainy day, Oscar discovers that his home is brimming with treasures.
Ollie is ready
Ollie wakes to a glorious morning in the jungle, soaking in a muddy river. Suddenly, he remembers it’s Saint Valentine’s Day and he longs to visit Bella in the nearby city. Unfortunately, his muddy state isn’t quite suited for her posh neighborhood. But Ollie, being a resourceful elephant, quickly finds a solution. Off he goes!
